ICMAB has conducted an effective and enthusiastic students’ projection meeting at the AIS department of Dhaka University
The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) conducted a career counseling seminar on 3 September 2023 at the Department of Accounting & Information Systems (AIS) of the University of Dhaka (DU) as a continuous effort to create market awareness about the CMA Professional Qualification. The program was organized for the BBA and MBA students of the department. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Zakaria Masud FCMA, Director, Academic Affairs Division of ICMAB, presented a detailed keynote paper on CMA education in Bangladesh. Dr. Masud highlighted several aspects of the CMA qualification, emphasizing the ICMAB’s academic program. He explained the new incentive policy implemented by the present council to attract brilliant students at ICMAB through providing scholarships and allowing exemptions including concurrent exemptions for intermediate entry route students.
Among others, ICMAB Vice President Mr. Mahtab Uddin Ahmed FCMA, Secretary Mr. Kausar Alam FCMA, Council member and past presidents of ICMAB Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed FCMA and Mr. Mohammed Salim FCMA, Council Member Mr. Mohammed Jahangir Alam FCMA delivered their speech to motivate the most brilliant students of the country to pursue CMA education. The ICMAB councilors shared their life experiences, shared different aspects relevant for future job seekers in the hyper-competitive market and the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0, presented contemporary perspectives of career success in comparison to the traditional success routes, and expressed strong confidence in the DU students and emphasized that the DU students must not only enroll in the CMA program rather should hold a sturdy commitment to qualifying the program at their earliest.

ICMAB president, Mr. Abdur Rahman Khan FCMA, explained why the CMA profession is so demanding around the globe and how CMA-qualified professionals assist the management in making proper business decisions to ensure the organization’s sustainable growth. Mr. Khan also presented a comparative assessment of professional accounting education in Bangladesh and explained ICMAB’s recent initiatives to support aspiring students. Emphasizing the flexible nature of the program, the ICMAB President requested the students to positively consider the CMA program for an accelerated career prospect.
Dr. Md. Musfiqur Rahman FCMA, Professor of the AIS Department, coordinated the program. He thanked ICMAB for initiating a career counseling program for DU students and for undertaking an insightful session. ICMAB President handed over a plaque of appreciation to Prof. Dr. Dhiman Kumar Chowdhury FCMA, Chairman, Department of AIS, at the end of the program. Dr. Jamil Sharif FCMA, Associate Professor of the AIS department along with other faculty members, ICMAB officials, and more than 250 students from the department participated in the program and raised several queries to learn about the CMA program.
