New Office Bearers of ICMAB-2019
Mr. M. Abul Kalam Mazumdar FCMA has been elected President of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) for the year 2019.
The Council of the Institute in its meeting held on 04 March 2019 has also unanimously
elected Mr. Arif Khan FCMA and Mr. Jamal Ahmed Choudhury FCMA as Vice-Presidents, Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Khan FCMA as Secretary and Prof. Dr. Swapan Kumar Bala FCMA as Treasurer of the Institute.
Apart from being Fellow of the Institute Mr. Mazumdar did MBA from Institute of Business Administration, Dhaka University and he is also Certified Management Consultant (CMC) from Institute of Certified Management Consultants (ICMC), Australia. He also has a diploma with distinction on Managerial Control and Management Information Systems from Netherlands.
Mr. Mazumdar was also the President of the Institute in the year 2000, Vice President for the years 1996, 1997 and 2018, Secretary for the years 1994 & 1995 and Treasurer for the year 1993. After qualifying as Cost and Management Accountant in 1984 Mr. Mazumdar played active role for formation of Dhaka regional council of the Institute, Dhaka Branch Council (DBC). He was the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer of the Dhaka Branch Council (DBC) during the years 1989, 1987 and 1986 respectively. In his initiative the Institute could so far issue 23 Cost Accounting Standards, which is pre-requisite Cost Accounting and Cost Audit. For his endeavours the implementation of Cost Audit has taken a new shape. He contributed for the Institute’s journal, The Cost and Management, as Editor and Associate Editor for more than a decade. He is the author of a number of local and international seminar, conference and research papers and he has few international publications to his credit.
Mr. Arif Khan served the ICMAB as President in 2016. Mr. Arif Khan brings more than 27 years of management experience to IDLC having served in various prestigious local, multinational and government organizations in the financial services sector. Mr. Khan most recently served as a Commissioner of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) in a 5 year stint and has been widely acclaimed for his role in the development of the capital market of Bangladesh. Mr. Khan holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of Dhaka University. He also obtained a Master of Commerce degree in Finance and Banking from Dhaka University.
Mr. Jamal Ahmed Choudhury FCMA served the ICMAB as President in 2017. He was also the Chairman (2005) of Dhaka Branch Council and Member of the National Council (2010-2013).He is the Executive Director, Accounts & Finance, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd. – a leading Pharmaceutical industry in the country. He obtained his post-graduation in Accounting from the University of Dhaka and MBA from IBA.
Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Khan FCMA is currently working as Deputy Secretary in Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Before this, he worked in Income Tax Administration for about 22 years in home and abroad.
Prof. Dr. Swapan Kumar Bala FCMA has been serving as Commissioner of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC). He worked as the Managing Director of Dhaka Stock Exchange Limited. By profession he is a Professor of Dhaka University.
