                                                             ICMAB Pre-Budget discussion on National Budget

The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) organized a pre-budget discussion session on National Budget-2013-2014 on May 13, 2013 at ICMA Bhaban, Nilket, Dhaka.

Mr. Hasanul Haq Inu, M.P Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Information, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was present as the Chief Guest on the occasion while Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, President, FBCCI was Special Guest. Mr. Kalipada Haldar, Member, NBR, Mr. Manwar Hossain, Group Managing Director, Anwar Group of Industries and Dr. Fahmida Khatun, Research Director & Head of Research, Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) were present as Guests of Honour.

Among others, Mr. AKM Delwer Hussain, FCMA President of the Institute, Mr. Md. Abdul Aziz, FCMA Chairman, Seminar & Conference Committee also spoke on the occasion. Mr. Arif Khan, FCMA Secretary of the Institute offered vote of thanks.

Mr. Md. Abdur Rashid, FCMA, Past President ICMAB & Taxes Appellate Tribunal and Prof. Dr.Swapan Kumar Bala, FCMA, Chief Executive Officer, Dhaka Stock Exchange were the main Speakers and they tried to focus on different aspects of the upcoming National Budget. In order to make the National budget 2013-2014 benevolent and employment oriented a good number of proposals were raised in the discussion session. Emphasis was given on the sprit of increasing the size of revenue income of the government with a view to ameliorating the social and economic conditions of the Public leaving comfortable balance of financial hardship with them. In doing so NBR may undertake different measures to make TAX and VAT systems popular widening the tax net, the speaker maintained. They also applauded Government’s recent initiatives regarding holding of discussions with different sections of the people of the society for hunting opinion from the stakeholders of the budget for improving the level of quality and acceptability of the budget.
 
A number of good recommendations came up during such discussion which may help preparing the next national budget.  

A galaxy of ICMAB members alongwith distinguished personalities of the society beautified the discussion session.
