The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) and BRAC Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on technical and strategic cooperation in various fields for mutual benefit.

Mr. M. Abul Kalam Mazumdar FCMA, President ICMAB and Mr.Selim R.F Hussain, Managing Director and CEO, BRAC Bank signed the MoU at the conference room, BRAC Bank of in the capital on 29 August, 2019.

Under the MoU, BRAC Bank would help ICMAB in infrastructural development and for strengthening educational facilities. ICMAB assured the BRAC Bank of technical support with regards to financial management including training and related business development issues.

Past President of ICMAB, Mr. Mohammed Salim FCMA, Executive Director, Mr. Md. Mahbub Ul Alam FCMA and Chowdhury Akhtar Asif, Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Nazmur Rahim, Head of Retail Banking, Mr. Yasir Arafin FCMA, acting CFO and Senior Officials of BRAC Bank were present at the signing ceremony.

The BSEC Chairman appreciated ICMAB for their contribution in the business and industrial sectors in the country. He also assured all possible help and assistance for the development for enhancement of professional bondage between ICMAB and BSEC.

The ICMAB President apprised the Secretary about the role of Cost and Management Accountants in enterprise management, cost control, decision making and performance evaluation of business and industrial sectors. Besides the discussion on the matters of mutual professional interest, President ICMAB also explained about the benefit of Cost Audit and its different aspects. He also pointed out that it helps improve performance and production efficiencies by detecting deviations from standards, and reasons of visible and invisible losses, efficiencies, wastages etc. He also urged upon the need for implementing Cost Audit in different Sectors, in accordance with the decision of the government published through Gazette notification.

The Secretary gave the assurance of implementing the decision of the government with regards to Cost Audit. He also sought support of ICMAB to make its sick industries profitable.

Dhaka, 8August 2019: Robi and ICMAB have signed a MoU with a view to collaborate for enhancing the knowledge and skills of students of ICMAB in the latest digital technologies. Robi’s Chief Enterprise Business officer, Mr. Md. Adil Hossain and ICMAB’s Director, Mr. Nazmus Salehin recently signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations at the Robi Corporate office located in Gulshan. Robi’s Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, ICMAB’s President Mr. M. Abul Kalam Mazumdar FCMA, Vice President Mr. Arif Khan FCMA, Council Member Mr. Mohammed Salim FCMA, along with high officials from Robi and ICMAB were present on the occasion.

Under the agreement, Robi will set up a state-of-the-art ‘Innovation Lab’ in the ICMAB campus. Key focus of the Lab will be to introduce the latest developments in data analytics, block chain, Internet of Things (IoT) technologies for the students of ICMAB. Besides, the Lab will facilitate the students to come up with innovative digital business ideas to address the problems faced by the companies. In order to make the best use of the lab facilities, ICMAB has decided to recognize the time spent by the students for learning, project or research work in connection to the usage of the lab facilities as credit hours. Students successfully completing the assigned tasks from this lab will be given professional certificates. In addition to the setting up of the innovation lab, Robi and ICMAB will explore ways of introducing digital solution to modernize the Institute.

The ICMAB President apprised the Executive Chairman, BIDA about the role of Cost and Management Accountants in enterprise management, cost control and performance evaluation of business and industrial undertakings. He informed that ICMAB has got global standard academic curriculum. The Institute is producing highly skilled professional accountants to meet the demand for accounting expertise in the country. He also informed the BIDA Chairman that some companies are appointing foreign nationals in Accounting and Finance functions despite availability of local personnel in similar skills and expertise. The employment of foreign nationals, especially in Accounting and Finance functions is causing increased unemployment. He requested the BIDA Chairman to take necessary measures to stop appoint of overseas accountants to work in Bangladesh.

The Executive Chairman of BIDA emphasized on the role of the professional accountants in the economic development of the country. He assured his support for the development of the Cost and Management Accounting profession.

Among others, Council Member and Past President Mr. Mohammed Salim FCMA and Director of the Institute Mr. Nazmus Salehin were present in the meeting.
