Mr. Abu Sayed Md. Shaykhul Islam, FCMA, has been elected as Secretary of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh for the year 2008 in its Council meeting held on January 24, 2008 in Dhaka. Earlier he was the Chairman of ICMAB Dhaka Branch Council for 1996 and Secretary for 1994. Mr. Islam qualified as an Cost and Management Accountant in January 1989 and admitted as an associate & fellow member of the Institute in June 1989 and October, 1994 respectively. He took his Graduation in Science from the University of Dhaka in 1980. Mr. Islam is presently serving as Chairman, FATCOM Bangladesh Ltd.
Prior to that Mr. Islam served M/s. Concord Group, Beximco, H.R. Textiles Ltd., National Tea Company Ltd., Star Particles Board Ltd., Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust and other organization from mid, senior and top level management positions. He is also associated with many social organizations and hold different positions.
Mr. Islam is the author of book “Services of a Company Secretary” published in 1996. He has also many publications in his credit on social, economic and professional issues.
He traveled USA, UK, Spain, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Malaysia, China and Singapore.
