ICMAB HELD CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT (CPD) PROGRAM
The Inaugural Session of a 2-day long Continuing Professional
Development (CPD) Program 2008 of the Institute of Cost and Management
Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) was held on June 12, 2008 at ICMAB
Ruhul Quddus Auditorium, Nilkhet, Dhaka. Kazi M. Aminul Islam,
Secretary, Chief Adviser’s Office, Government of Bangldesh inaugurated
the CPD Program as Chief Guest. Mr. Glenn Mackenzie-Frazer, Team
Leader, Change Management Advisor, MAP, NBR was present as Guest of
Honour while Mr. Zahir Uddin Ahmed, FCMA, President of the Institute
presided over the CPD Program.
Mr. Md. Abdul Aziz, FCMA past President and Chairman, Seminar and
Conference Committee of ICMAB gave welcome address, Mr. A. K. M. Delwer
Hussain, FCMA past President and sitting Vice President also spoke on
the occasion while Mr. Abu Sayed Md. Shaykhul Islam, FCMA, Secretary
proposed vote of thanks.
Three technical sessions which were held on June 12 – 13, 2008
respectively. The technical papers were:- (i) “Role of Finance in
Supply Chain Management” presented by Mr. Nazmul Haider, FCMA, Head of
Finance & Company Affairs, Perfetti Van Melle Bangladesh Pvt. Ltd.,
(ii) “Fair Value Accounting: A Paradigm Shift” presented by Dr.
Jamaluddin Ahmed, FCA, Partner, Hoda Vasi Chowdhury & Co. and (iii)
“IT as a Business Enabler – A Case Study” presented by Mr. Aniruddha
Neogi, FCA, Director Finance, ICDDR’B.
The technical sessions were conducted by Mr. Elias Ahmed, Additional
Secretary, Ministry of Industries, Mr. Md. Mokhles Ur Rahman,
Additional Secretary, Government of Bangldesh & Chairman,
Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC) and Mr. Golam
Mostakim, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Government of
Bangldesh respectively as the Session Chairman.
A good number of Members of the Institute participated in the CPD Program.
