This course is designed to fulfill the following objectives. These are to:

b.develop an efficient and effective use of the English Language
c.develop learning skill, writing skill, listening skill, communication skill and presentation skill
d.acquire practical and oral communication skills

002.01 English Grammar
Components of English Grammar: Orthography, Etymology, Punctuation, Syntax and Prosody. The Parts of Speech: Uses, Implications and Transformations. Sentence: Its structures and types; Subject, Predicate, Object; Simple, Complex and Compound Sentences; Assertive, Interrogative, Imperative, Optative and Exclamatory; Transformation and Combination of sentences. Determiners: Articles, Possessives, Demonstratives, Quantifiers, and Numerals. Tense, Voice and Narration: Forms, Uses, Implications, and Transformations. Clauses, Phrases, Auxiliaries, Modals and Semi-Modals: Types and Uses. Questions: WH Questions and its framing by Interrogative Pronoun, Adjective, and Adverb; Tag Questions. Conjugation of verbs., Capitalization of letters. Sentence correction by the use of the rules of Number, Gender, Person, Case, Degree and other rules of English Grammar.

Paragraph Writing: Narrative, Descriptive and Expository, Test of Comprehension, Précis Writing, Essays Writing- topics relating to business and economics.
